A gentleman needs a wife. It is a common
knowledge, really. So when a handsome young man,
Mr. Bingley, a bachelor with a steady income
£5,000, comes to Netherfield
estate he quickly becomes the center of attention.
The Bennet family, with five daughters, simply
cannot ignore this chance. A man must marry
one of them.
But Mr. Bingley has not come alone. His friend
Mr. Darcy, Esquire, accompanies him to Netherfield.
A handsome man, rich and aristocratic.
pedigree — he is the perfect groom. With one exception
his pride. He is arrogant and contemptuous of people
below him. Looking at Elizabeth Bennet, he says that
she is not beautiful enough to dance with him. What
has he to do with these poor nobles?
And so from pride comes prejudice.
«He is a gentleman, and I am a gentleman
daughter. As long as we are equal.»
